Highlights

An Experience of Flow Learning

Based on the activities in Sharing Nature with Children Volumes I & II. Joseph will lead you through an experience of his "Flow Learning" system–a powerful tool to lead people from their present level of awareness into closer contact with nature's healing presence.

Joseph has used the Flow Learning methods successfully with groups of all ages, in wilderness areas and inner city playgrounds. Flow Learning provides a framework to enhance all nature programs, since it is based on universal principles of how people learn.

"This conference was so powerful because it prepares you for both the inspirational and practical side of nature activities. I feel I have touched nature with my heart, and I have the techniques to share it with others."

Dani Doueiri, Lebanon

A "Listening to Nature" Outing in the High Sierras

birdJoseph will lead you through the nature awareness methods from Listening to Nature. These simple and effective techniques quiet the mind and open the heart to a deeper experience of nature.

Nature's serenity can renew your joy in life, as well as increase your effectiveness personally and as an outdoor leader.

"After reading and using the activities in Listening to Nature, I now recognize the difference between busily cataloguing an experience and actually becoming that experience through stillness."

Ruth Maclean, Audubon Expedition Institute

Meditation & Nature Awareness

You can't always get away to nature to attune to the radiant peace you feel there. But peace, energy, and clarity are available to you through the practice of meditation. We will share a simple and profoundly effective technique for quieting the mind and bringing it to a point of relaxed concentration and upliftment. Meditation practice can help you express deeper poise and joy in your relations with others–qualities that make for more successful teaching and advocacy.

"I had often heard of meditation but never understood what value it might have in my life. After seeing your poise and charisma during your lecture in Frankfurt, I understand how I could benefit from the meditation techniques you use."

Dr. Keith Clarkson, Director of Environmental Education, Peak National Park, Great Britain

Journey to the Heart of Nature

During the retreat, you'll find your own special place in nature, and spend some quiet time there, using the absorbing activities from Journey to the Heart of Nature, a program designed for young adults but useful for all ages.  These wonderful printsactivities allow individuals in group settings to have their own profound experiences of nature.

"Journeying to the heart of nature is a journey of discovery to the center of one's own heart."

Tom Dwyer, Nature Educator,
California Dept. of Forestry
