Sharing Nature Programs:

Our Educational programs are:

  • Experiential
  • Playful
  • Practical
  • Inspirational

They are based on the philosophy and activities from Joseph Cornell's popular and highly acclaimed Sharing Nature Book Series.

"Sharing Nature with Children is not just a book but a powerful approach to nature education. The first edition of this book sparked a worldwide revolution in nature education and became a classic. The author, Joseph Cornell, is one of the most highly regarded nature educators in the world today."
- National Association for Interpretation

"I knew I would come away from the workshop with
many useful activities to do with the children and I
did; but more important, I came away with rein-
forcement for a way of involving children with
their learning that touches them deeply, as I was
touched that weekend. I played and felt and enjoyed
as a child. I felt wonder and surprise and humor. It
wouldn't have mattered if I couldn't have "used"
what I learned; that came as an extra bonus."

-Paula Rao, Teacher, Pasadena, California

"This is probably the best course or workshop I have ever taken - totally practical in terms of things I can use now in my classroom - and also of great value to me personally."

-S.P., Teacher, Santa Rosa, California

"It is an exciting experience to work with Joseph Cornell. His enthusiasm about teaching is contagious, and his love of nature truly inspiring."

-L.E., Youth Leader, San Diego, California

Joseph is also available as a Keynote Speaker or Conference Presenter. Please let us know your needs, and we’ll happily design a program especially for your group.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

To encourage the best interaction among participants, the ideal workshop size can be anywhere from twenty to fifty-five members, although groups of sixty-five still work quite well.

TWO DAY WORKSHOP:

During a Two Day Workshop, we are together for twelve hours. We offer the basic One Day Workshop including additional nature activities and teaching methods. The second day allows time for assimilation and comprehension of the many new techniques being learned. Also, because of the number of activities shared in the Two Day Workshop, participants will gain a deeper understanding of our outdoor teaching strategy, Flow Learning™ and its four stages: Awaken Enthusiasm, Focus Attention, Direct Experience, and Share Inspiration. A special feature of the Two Day Workshop is a class on “How to Be an Inspiring Teacher”.
