Joseph Cornell Nominated for Prestigious Global Biodiversity Award
We are delighted to share inspiring news with our Sharing Nature community!
Joseph Bharat Cornell, founder of Sharing Nature Worldwide and pioneer of the internationally acclaimed Flow Learning process, has been nominated for the prestigious Global Biodiversity Award in Education and Communication presented by the BBVA Global Foundation out of Spain.
This distinguished international award honors individuals whose work has made significant contributions toward environmental awareness, biodiversity education, and communication across the world. Joseph’s nomination recognizes more than five decades of groundbreaking leadership in experiential nature education and awareness and his lifelong dedication to helping people of all ages develop a heartfelt and transformative relationship with the natural world.
Since the publication of Sharing Nature with Children in 1979, Joseph’s books and teachings have inspired millions worldwide. His innovative Sharing Nature activities and Flow Learning system transformed traditional environmental education by introducing immersive, joyful and deeply experiential approaches that help people feel they are truly connected to Nature.
Today, Sharing Nature programs, books, workshops and trainings continue to flourish through the dedicated efforts of our country affiliates, educators, trainers and communities spanning the globe. Joseph’s books have been translated into numerous languages and have influence educators, schools, nature centers, and organizations throughout North America, South America, Europe, Asia and beyond.
This nomination was lovingly initiated through Sharing Nature representatives in Spain, Paqui Godino and Dr. Javier Benayas, whose dedication and enthusiasm partnered with the central Sharing Nature staff in California to gather extensive materials documenting Joseph’s global impact in nature education.
As Joseph now joins other international nominees being considered by the BBVA Foundation jury, we celebrate this meaningful recognition not only for Joseph personally, but for the entire worldwide Sharing Nature movement – all those who have shared the vision of awakening joy, wonder, compassion, and connection through Nature.
The nominations are now in the hands of the jury. We will know the results in two months. In the meantime, what a timely recognition and honor, well deserved by Joseph Bharat Cornell!
