"One of the most highly regarded nature educators in the world today." -Backpacker Magazine
From his earliest years, Joseph Bharat Cornell felt a sensitive attunement with the mysteries and beauties of nature. As a boy, he spent much time exploring the marshes, orchards, and mountains near his home in northern California. During the early 1970s, he designed his own Bachelor of Science degree program in nature awareness at California State University at Chico.
Flow Learning®: Opening Heart and Spirit Through Nature
In his newest release, Flow Learning®, Joseph Bharat Cornell shares a transformative learning process that empowers participants to awaken their higher human qualities through direct experiences in nature. Flow Learning provides the essential ingredients for true learning, as well as a recipe for the inner transformation that every educator strives to bring their students.
"Flow Learning transfers beautifully to other disciplines and learning environments…. Joseph focuses on being present: with nature, with learners, with ourselves; infusing joy and energy via play, humor, and emotional connection in order to heighten awareness, deepen learning, and create lasting impact." —Janet Carrier Ady, PhD North American Association for Environmental Education Advisory Council
"Innumerable rivers flow on Earth, absorbing a myriad of nutrients and bearing them to the sea. Inspired by this universal principle of nature, Cornell compares learning to the flow of a river. This is a fresh perspective on “learning” that can be an outpouring of joy and enthusiasm that creates a great flow of energy, thereby transforming the learners." —Mitsuhisa Hioki, Board Chair, Sharing Nature Association of Japan, Professor, Graduate School of Education, The University of Tokyo
"I find Flow Learning to be an enlightened yet practical approach that brings curiosity, creativity, and conscious awareness to learning. Whether used to enhance experiential learning or as a guide to experiencing life to the fullest, this book offers valuable insights." —Dominique Del Chiaro, ME.d, Healthy Living Program Manager, Stanford University.
