Journey to the Heart of Nature

Concepts, skills, and qualities taught: Exploration, awareness of nature, reflection
When and where to play: Day / natural area
Number of people needed: For 2 or more people
Suggested age range: Ages 4 -5 and up
Materials needed: Explorer’s Guide per player, pencils, clipboards, invitation cards

HOW TO PLAY
Select a safe area with a variety of natural habitats. Each explorer finds a place that he especially enjoys. If your child is too young to read and write, you can do this activity together with them.

Give your child an Explorer’s Guide (see below), pencil, writing board, and invitation card. Have them choose a name for their special place and write it on a card. After your child has finished visiting their site (about 25 minutes), they will use the card to invite you or another friend to their area.

Since your child might not have time to do every exercise in the Explorer’s Guide, tell them to choose the ones that are most interesting.
